Our Firefighter/EMT’s and Firefighter/Paramedics respond to all Fire Alarms, Car Accidents, Hazmat and Technical Rescue calls, and EMS calls as a integral member of our team!! Which includes but not limited to- assisting in extinguishing fires to protect lives and property, administering first aid including all approved BLS and ALS interventions, extrication of trapped victims, hazardous materials and technical ropes rescue incidents, as well as inspecting buildings for fire hazards to ensure compliance with fire prevention ordinances.

The North Platte Fire Department (NPFD) is dedicated to your success. This is a rewarding career with great pay, benefits and time off. Personnel work a Kelly style shift which means you work 24 hours on-duty followed by 24 hours off-duty, once you have worked five shifts, you go on Kelly days (six days off in a row).
NPFD offers lateral entry level positions as well as un-certified entry level positions. All hired personnel will complete a six-month probationary training period in which they will complete Firefighter I and II. Within the first year of service, if not already certified, the trainee will complete National Registry EMT and Hazardous Materials Technician, at the employer’s expense.

Study Guide and Practice Test: NFST Exam
Applicants will receive confirmation of receipt of completed application. Applications will be kept on file for two years. When a testing date is set, you will contacted with the date and time of the written Civil Service and agility testing. Upon successful completion of these tests, applicant will be given a date and time for oral interviews.
