North Platte Senior Center Activities

Strength Training
Jon Wieseler, Instructor, is a Physical Therapist at Platte Valley Physical Therapy. He has 32 years’ experience and brings knowledge and fun to each class. Classes are $25.00 for an 8 week session but you can drop in anytime for $3.00. Classes are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Classes begin at 10:00 a.m., a 15 minute break is taken at 10:30 a.m. and the class ends at 11:15 a.m.

Dances
Come dance with us every Wednesday from 7:00-10:00 p.m. Cost is $4.00 per person. Please bring finger foods.

Public Bingo
Saturdays. Early bird game starts at 6:30 p.m. Open to those 19 years and older. $5, $10 and $15 packet sold. $1.00 special games. Pickle Cards are available.

Foot Clinic
Held on the 3rd Wednesday & Thursday of every month. Appointments can be made on Wednesdays from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.  The cost is $12.00. Call 532-6544 to schedule an appointment. No walk-ins. To schedule to have your feet done in the privacy of your own home, call Kay at 539-2657.

Pet Food Pantry
An application must be completed. Please bring proof of income, age, pet spayed/neutered, and current rabies certificate. Pet food is distributed monthly as long as grant funding is available.

Farmers Market Coupons
Coupons are available for persons 60 years and older who are on a limited income. Proof of income is required (tax returns or social security stubs). Coupons are available around June 1st. They are distributed on a first come, first serve basis. The Coupons are valued at $48.00. Coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from the Farmers Market throughout the season. Although, please be aware that not all vendors accept the coupons. Un-used coupons are detrimental to the program so we ask that customers utilize all coupons by October 31st. Bus Trips

Bingo for Fun
Check our activities link for dates and time. Play for candy bars or other snack food.

Educational Programs
Attend an up to date educational program on a wide range of topics. Check newsletter for more information.

Health Screenings   
Heartland Health & Imaging Stroke Screenings are held twice a year. In the past the pricing was as follows:

  • Carotid Artery Screening $45
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm $45
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease $45
  • Bone Density Screening $45
  • Any 3 screenings $109
  • Complete Wellness Package $129

Billiards
Come play a game of billiards anytime during business hours.

Card parties
Come play a game of cards….make new friends on Friday evenings at 6:00 p.m. Bring your favorite finger foods to share. Play Pitch, Pinochle, Hand and Foot, etc. A donation is collected to cover the cost of table service.

Painting Classes
Come try your hand at China painting. Classes are on the 1st Monday of every month at 1:00 p.m.

Medicare Part D Comparisons
Shawna will sit down with you and go over the medications you currently take to find the best coverage for you. Appointments can be made October 15th-December 7th. Call her at (308) 532-6544.

Tai Chi
This class is free of charge. Tai Chi can help improve balance and general health. Check newsletter to see when classes are being held.

Lending Library
We have lots of books that are available to borrow. Stop by and check a few out. If you have books at home you would like to get rid of, please bring them to us and we will add them to the library.

Medical Equipment
We do have some medical equipment available to borrow. We have wheel chairs, walkers, canes, toilet risers, bath benches, etc. Please give us a call to see if maybe we have what you are looking for. Also, if you have any of the above you would like to get rid of, please bring them to us.

Newsletters can be picked up at the Senior Center or for $6.00 a year, we will mail you one each month.
